Hello! I’m Racquel P. Henry — a freelance photographer, creative, and proud mother of three.

After 12 years in the healthcare industry, I made a bold and fulfilling leap into my first love: photography.

My passion for capturing moments began at the age of five, the day my father brought home a Nikon camera. Growing up in Jamaica, owning a camera was not a luxury many families had, and the lack of family photographs deeply impacted me. That experience sparked a lifelong desire to document life and preserve memories — to ensure that no meaningful moment goes uncaptured.

My Jamaican roots, faith, and family values are deeply woven into who I am and how I approach my work. I believe photography is more than creating beautiful images — it is about honoring people, preserving legacy, and capturing moments with intention, love, and authenticity. My faith keeps me grounded, guides my purpose, and inspires me to create from a place of gratitude, compassion, and genuine connection.

Throughout my school years, I was known as the girl with a camera always in hand, capturing the beauty and emotion in everyday life. Photography has always been more than a hobby — it is storytelling. It is my way of preserving emotion, energy, and memory in a single frame that lasts forever.

Recently, I graduated from the Florida Institute of Recording, Sound and Technology, where I studied Digital Photography. I pursued formal training to strengthen the technical side of my craft while building a strong foundation for a meaningful and professional brand.

My creative style is clean, natural, soulful, and intentional — with every image telling its own unique story.

The name of my brand, Purple Hibiscus Photography, was inspired by two of my favorite things: the color purple and the hibiscus flower — symbols of creativity, strength, beauty, and grace. What began as a childhood fascination has evolved into a professional calling rooted in passion and purpose.

I specialize in portraits, promotional events, nature, and documentary photography, always striving to bring a storytelling approach to every image I create.

I am currently in a beautiful season of following my heart, embracing growth, and fully pursuing my dreams. Every step of this journey holds meaning for me.

My ultimate goal as a photographer? To make it last forever.
